When the Right Project Lights You Up

Every so often a project or piece of work comes along that you know will be lasting memory because itโ€™s just so good.

It reaches into the very depths of your being and asks that you deliver something far and beyond what the job spec says. It draws on innate human qualities that go far beyond those required for BAU.

Iโ€™m in one of those projects right now and my inner engineer is lit up bright. Iโ€™m mulling over how to do the work and how to solve the challenges outside of work, and Iโ€™m looking forward to the work itself.

Being an external, independent, allows me to do my very best work and there are many โ€˜post agileโ€™ development teams desperately in need of support and guidance.

Software delivery challenges are often complex, systemic issues that span multiple domains; including people, processes and technology.

Dreams of effortless flow and placeholders for conversions are being replaced with the reality of multi-โ€˜sprintโ€™ corporate delivery cycles and offshore developers trying to meet deadlines and keep defects at bay.

Itโ€™s the stuff of nightmares if you are stuck inside the arrangement with limited levers to pull, but the stuff of dreams if youโ€™ve lived the experience and know how to fix it.

You wonโ€™t find the project details on my LinkedIn profile as itโ€™s one of those โ€˜direct to clientโ€™ arrangements that I kept my limited company open for. I absolutely love this kind of work and Iโ€™m looking for more of it.
