Dumpster fires and burning requirements ushered in the Agile regime

The stench of burning requirements seeps through poorly insulated windows.

Jovial singing can be heard outside, as another dumpster fire takes place. Burning leftover requirements documents is commonplace. I’m distracted and finding it hard to work. I might not meet the deadline, but I no longer care.

The agile movement has taken hold.

The excitement around me is palpable. The requirements industry put up a good fight, and we were even sympathetic for a while, but ‘Placeholders for a conversation’ are finally being installed. Right now, all around me. It’s the future we fought so hard for.

It’s 2011. The regime is changing. It’s chaotic, dramatic and exciting. Our work will soon be so much more.

Things are unfolding pretty fast right now, and none of us know where we might end up in another 10 or 15 years.

But one thing’s for sure. Good things are coming, and we all know it.
